Facility:Oakdale Golf and Country Club, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Abstract:Details a bunker reconstruction project at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. States that Ohio 535 sand "was replaced in bunkers that had already been altered on the 6 and 8 holes and construction on four more holes...was done in the fall of 1992, with the remaining three holes...in the fall of 1993." Also states that "throughout this project, the bunker construction did not interrupt play on the greens. Because construction was done in the fall, the new bunkers were ready for play the following spring. Most of the work such as drainage, sodding, fine grading, and sand installation was performed in-house with the rough grading contracted out." Mentions that "when sodding the north and west nines, bluegrass mixtures were used as well as sod that was saved from the construction areas." Concludes that "in total, 53 bunkers were changed or created on the original 18 [holes]...[and] approximately 20 bunkers were altered and a dozen sodded over on the west nine...Some of the construction alterations have been controversial, but the overall reaction has been positive with changes well received by the membership."
