Abstract:Discusses the increasing use of closed landfills as the basis for golf courses. Discusses the features of landfills that affect golf course design, including the need for special permits and/or monitoring, the tendency for the soil to settle, gases emitted by landfills, and the practice of capping landfills. Offers guidelines for designing a landfill in such a way as to make it suitable for a future golf course.
