Abstract:Presents a history of the game of golf from the fifteenth to the twentieth centuries, and discusses the changes in golf course architecture that have occurred throughout the history of the game. Topics discussed include the nature of the original Scottish golf links, the expansion of golf to other regions, and the evolution of golf course features including greens, tees, fairways and bunkers. Also includes a discussion of continuing changes in golf equipment and their effect on golf course architecture.
