Abstract:Lists suggestions to consider when laying out a public golf course. Provides recommendations from Tom Bendelow regarding planning a public course and areas of concern to pay attention to. Recommends eliminating as many sources of congestion as possible by dispensing all water hazards and ridding short holes and long grass between fairways where balls can be easily lost. Mentions the toll slow play has on various golf players on the public course. Mentions that adding distinctive characteristics to courses stems from the architects ability to make use of what nature has given him, and the topography in that area.
