Abstract:Profiles Quent Baria, CGCS, of Towson Golf and Country Club in Phoenix, Maryland. Describes a drought that affected his club during his first year on the job. The drought "turned to deluge that lasted well into the following year" and "subsequent tests after the deluge indicated no change in exchangeable sodium from the levels of the prior year." Discusses the decisions that Baria made regarding reconstruction. States that "Baria decided to bring in Ed Beidel, ASGCA RLA, a golf course architect from nearby Columbia, [Maryland], to evaluate the slopes and perimeters if the original Geoffrey Cornish design." Describes the steps of the rebuilding process and how the new greens have been received by the membership.
